These all-new molds were released in June 96, and are without a doubt, the finest on the market. The Academy Sabre, heavily based upon this Hasegawa release, is also a very good product.

They reflect the current Hasegawa policy of providing a good fitting, accurate and externally detailed product, while leaving the finer points, that arguably do not interest every modeler, to the aftermarket detail companies. Although my heart is with efforts like the gorgeous Accurate Miniatures 1/48th scale TBF/TBM Avenger, I am grateful to have this quality product available.

The Sabre is an historic and very handsome bird, and a lot of aftermarket resin, metal and decal products appeared to allow us the basis of outstanding representations of this fine machine. Reviews of this products have their own area, here I am only referring those that I personally favor for specific applications.

My in-depth review of the Hasegawa Sabres is not meant as a trashing of the product, but as a mean to spread the efforts of others and me to research as thoroughly as possible this subject. It is up to you, then, to decide whether all that detailing effort is worthwhile or not. Whatever is your decision, I am pretty sure you'll have many satisfying hours building the Hasegawa Sabres.
